Will Down Sound Records pull the “Glory Glory” song?
The controversial Ishawna also uses religious metaphors and makes overt references to God and sex. In the intro, she explains “you know, that moment when yu get a love so good, it just mek yu waan jump fi joy, give God praise and exalt His name, yu know wha mi a talk bout right? Yu just feel free, yu just feel blessed”.
The hook goes: “Glory, yu mek mi say glory/good love inna mi soully/it make me waan sing Redemption Story/that love ya control me /wholly and soully.
Some of the lyrics are quite witty, riddled with delicious double entendres. For instance, at one point, she sings: “oh God oh God, oh God, wah yu do mi mek me need yu so bad? Enter mi life, buss mi glad bag/when yu come, yu mek mi glad glad.”
However, it is the second verse that has Christians “hot and bothered”. In the second verse, Ishawna makes some delicious sexual innuendos that walk a fine line between S & M and religious perversion when she sings: “I have been a bad girl, mi no perfect/Stamp mi like mi do yu a disservice/ put me down on mi knee mek mi worship/shower yu blessing on me, mi deserve it/Oh God, the fire is burning, Holy Mary, guide blessed virgin”.
