In the meantime, reggae superstar Mr. Vegas has not seen his daughter, Raina for over two years because of the rift between he and his babymother, Shellian McBayne.
“It’s hard not seeing one of your children for two years, it leaves you with a feeling of emptiness, for one, because you have missed out on a certain part of her life. There is also anger when you think about the people she might be exposed to, and the people she might be around,” Mr. Vegas told Loop News.
Mr. Vegas also admitted to feeling a sense of helplessness because he wants custody of his daughter, and the legal system of the United States does not afford him that opportunity. He is still embroiled in a custody case in the Bronx County Family Court in New York but that case has hit a wall because his babymother, Shelliann McBayne did not show up for court.
“I feel helpless to a certain degree because of the legal system in the US. I have tried different angles, and I am looking at different angles to get some form of assistance with my case but it has been difficult. I knew after the fact that the child was registered in another man’s name, so it seems my hands are tied legally,” he said.
