The Jamaica 4h Society branch of the Lauriston and Thompson Pen District held their annual Stew Festival on the grounds of Brooklyn Park, Spanish Town earlier this week.
A sumptuous banquet of delicious dishes whetted the appetite of patrons who turned up at the event. The wide assortment of stewed dishes included stewed melon, stewed egg, stewed june plum, stewed peas, stewed guava and stewed apple, Meat lovers were treated to stewed rabbit and duck, while an entire pig was roasted along with jerk chicken back.
Representations were made by HEART Trust NTA, NHT, PATH, Guardian Life, JUTC mobile, Aunt Vie’s, JIS, RADA, CDA, LASCO, Jamaica 4H Club, SDC and the police.
MC Teddy kept the audience entertained with several contests in the form of water drinking and dance contests. There was a cook off with items provided by Lasco which was well received by an audience which included local councillor Keisha Lewis who snacked on items from the sumptuous feast. The Trooper marching band also entertained with several pieces.
The Stew Festival climaxed in spectacular fashion with a gospel concert from Jonathan Grant All Together Sing choir, JCDC gospel winners, Sister Keese, Sister Pat, Siloah Apostolic Choir and Rubert Levy.
