Since leaving Down Sound Records, the irrepressible Ninjaman has been busy hammering out new deals to deal with the production, and promotion of his unique brand.
“I have just signed off on a deal to start a weekly show called ‘Thursday Night at the Fights’ at the Island Village. This event will have sound system clashes, as well as a clash event for deejays and singers. This event kicks off on April 15th, so the deejays and singers better buckle up,” he said.
The clash events at ‘Thursday Night at the Fights’ will have prizes provided by a number of sponsors, as well as cash prizes.
Ninjaman said that he will be using the Island Village venue to recruit taxi-men from the north coast for a big clash event set for Independence Park on August 8th in Kingston. He said that he will also be using either the Skateland in HWT or Windward Road to recruit taxmen from the south coast.
“I am trying to recruit 14 taxi-men, one from each parish, for a big clash event that has the first prize of a car, which will be sponsored by Autovision in association with Ninjaman,” he said.
Last week, Ninjaman announced that he had parted ways with Down Sound at the end of his three-year contract.
“Our time just done. I feel like it’s time that I go on my own. I went to DSR because I needed a little discipline, and they did a great job with me. I’m very thankful that Joe took a chance with me, because when me just come out a prison, nobody else never business wid me,” he stated.
He added that he will now be focusing on his own record label – Upsound Orthodox – as well as working with legendary veteran artistes.
“I have an album which I was working on with Down Sound, and I will be doing another one for my label, I have a number of great collaborations already such as one with Nature and one with Snow,” he said.
