When the case against Dawnta Clarke o.c. Carey Rose came up in Spanish Town RM Court recently his identification was inconclusive.
Reports are that the accused returned to Jamaica in 2012 under the name Dawnta Clarke based on an American Express card that was in his possession. However the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency has confirmed that the person alleging to have both names does not match the photograph that they had obtained.
The accused, who consistently claims to be Carey Rose, has documentation of both parents residing in Canada under the name Clarke.
Clarke, who is represented by attorney Robert Moore, was unable to obtain a successful bail application.
“Mr. Moore how can I be sure that the birth certificate and christening papers you show is indeed that of the man in the dock? Firstly, the photograph that was sent from the passport office shows no similarity to your client. I need proper identification of your client before I can even consider bail,” RM Nembhard outlined.
Clarke who was accidentally released and then committed another crime, is now being charged for a sexual offence and larceny.
His fingerprint was ordered and he will return to court on August 21, 2015.
