Dancehall artiste Gridloc believes that he is on the verge of a breakthrough with his latest single, ‘Money and Gal’.
” I am getting a lot of great feedback to the ‘Money and Gal’ song, and it is doing well in areas such as May Pen and Christiana, in and around Manchester and St. Elizabeth, and now, the video release ah give it a real boost,” Gridloc said.
The video, which was directed by Star Imag3 Films, is now in rotation on HYPE, RE and other local stations.
Gridloc, whose real name is Kevin Chambers, grew up in the parish of Manchester where he attended St. Paul of the Cross Catholic private school and participated in sports, becoming a regular member of the basketball team. After graduating, he attended Knox Community College for two years where he majored in business subjects.
“I began to do music in my spare time while helping my father take care of his dogs, and I did performances in the community. My style of music is dancehall with a twist and flavour, because I incorporate R & B and hip hop,” he said.
He entered the popular talent contest, Magnum Kings and Queens in 2011 where he gained exposure as a wild card for judge Miss Kitty.
“It was a great experience for me to see firsthand how the business really set up, and to meet and to be around other artistes and see how dem operate,” he said.
He is now turning his attention towards the promotion of another club banger, ‘Go Easy’, which is also produced by Silverback Entertainment.
“In 2018, mi just a raise things to a new level and build the brand so just look out for more singles and videos from Girdloc,” he said.
