Millions of fans are currently mourning across all social media platforms due to the unfortunate death of Euphoria star, Angus Cloud. The 25-year- old Irish actor was considered to be one of the fan favorites on the Emmy winning tv series, playing the beloved drug-dealing character named Fezco. He starred alongside Zendaya Coleman, who was his classmate at the School of Production Design at Oakland School for the Arts.
Angus Cloud was born in Oakland, California on July 10, 1998, and was the eldest of two siblings. He was scouted by Jennifer Venditti, the Euphoria casting director, while working in Brooklyn, New York, at the Woodlands restaurant. He landed his first acting role playing the character Fezco in 2019, then two years later acted in the comedy movie North Hollywood.
The actor was always open about his mental health battles and ongoing drug addiction that caused alleged off-screen conflicts. Last April, Diomi Cordero, his alleged former manager, who he had met at a rehab clinic, disclosed that the actor relapsed at his home barbecue on July 4, 2021. Cordero stated, “Upon entering his premises and attempting to greet him with a hug, it became immediately apparent that he had resumed substance abuse, a mere two days after completing his treatment”. Their work relationship ended after the alleged incident of Cloud vomiting on Cordero’s face when he administered CPR and Narcan because the actor was struggling to breathe. He claimed that by November 2021, Cloud had “evidently relinquished control of his addiction.”
According to the statement released by his family, Cloud was still mourning after the recent burial of his father in Ireland.
The Cloud’s family statement reads:
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
He was declared “already deceased” upon arrival of The Oakland Fire Department.
Some of my most memorable clips from his role in Euphoria include his brutal fight scene with the character Nate in season 2 episode 1, his budding romance with Lexi throughout season 2 and his final heartfelt scene watching his baby brother getting murdered by the police while being pinned down to his living room floor.
Many fans are comparing the actor’s death to that of Mac Miller’s due to their resemblance. A twitter user wrote “Why does this feel like Mac Miller part 2??? I AM NOT OKAY. RIP Angus Cloud.”
Another wrote “Angus dying gave me ptsd of the day I received the “Mac Miller died” message.”
However, some other fans found it distasteful and insensitive to compare the similarities between the two late artists. They believe Angus Cloud should be acknowledged and grieved as an individual, not as a “second Mac Miller.”
Below contains a few more tributes posted from celebrities, co-stars and fans.
Rest in peace Angus Cloud.
