There was a surreal moment inside the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates’ court when a man begged to be sent to Bellevue.
The accused man who is charged with wounding with intent and was remanded for psychiatric evaluation pleaded with Resident Magistrate Natalie Brooks for an early road release that would allow him to go home to Bellevue, a mental health institution in East Kingston.
“Your honour, I want to go home please your honour. I’m suffering and I want to go home to Bellevue. Mi get beat up and wet up. Please your honour!” Patrick Wheatley said.
It was clearly visible that the man had a medical condition because he was constantly shaking.
“Madam clerk, please make note that the accused is not well and has reported that he has been beaten. And have the superintendent transfer him from the Spanish Town lock up,” RM Brooks requested.
The accused man’s medical journal was not available for his present condition to be known. He returns to court on January 5, 2016.
